President Cryil Ramaphosa was addressing the Nation on Tuesday evening on Government’s Covid-19 response.
He announced a massive social and economic package of R500 billion, which amounts to about 10% of the country’s GDP.
From that R500 billion, Ramaphosa announced that R50 billion will be used to reach the most vulnerable families in the country.
Child Support Grant beneficiaries will receive an extra R300 in May. From June to October, they will receive R500 each month. While other grant beneficiaries will receive an extra R250 per month for the next 6 months.
To reach the most vulnerable families in our country, we have decided on a temporary 6 months coronavirus grant. We will direct R50 billion towards relieving the plight of those who are most desperately affected by the coronavirus.
