Kaizer Chiefs have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Bafana Bafana international Elias Mokwana, who returns to South African football after two seasons abroad.

The 27-year-old winger, who hails from KwaMhlanga in Mpumalanga, joins Amakhosi following spells in Tunisia and Saudi Arabia. He initially moved abroad in 2024 after leaving Sekhukhune United for Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis.

Mokwana enjoyed a successful 2024/25 campaign with Espérance, helping the club secure the domestic league and cup double. He contributed three goals and two assists in 25 appearances across all competitions and also won the 2024 Tunisian Super Cup, scoring in the final against Stade Tunisien.

His performances also earned him a place in Espérance's squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The winger subsequently joined Saudi Arabian side Al Hazem on loan for the 2025/26 season, making 24 appearances in the Saudi Pro League as he continued to gain experience abroad.

Before his move to Tunisia, Mokwana established himself as one of the standout attacking players in the Betway Premiership with Sekhukhune United. He made 65 appearances over two seasons, scoring six goals and registering seven assists.

At international level, Mokwana made his Bafana Bafana debut against Andorra in March 2024. He has since earned 11 caps and was included in South Africa's squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he featured twice.

His arrival gives Chiefs another attacking option, with his pace, direct running and ability to operate across the forward line expected to strengthen the club's offensive threat.

Amakhosi will hope the experienced winger can make an immediate impact as they continue their efforts to build a competitive squad.
