At least 10 people have been killed and 11 others wounded after gunmen opened fire at an entertainment venue in Lwandle, near Cape Town, in the early hours of Sunday, 27 September 2026.
According to police, the attackers entered a venue that also operates as a shisanyama at around 01:46 and opened fire on patrons.
Five victims were declared dead at the scene, while another five later died after being taken to medical facilities. Eleven other people are receiving treatment for gunshot wounds.
Western Cape police have established a multidisciplinary investigation team, led by serious and violent crime detectives. Police are searching for the perpetrators, but no arrests had been made at the time of the latest reports.
The motive has not yet been established, and police have not confirmed how many gunmen were involved. The identities of the deceased will be released once their next of kin have been notified.

The Lwandle shooting occurred within hours of another mass shooting in Wedela, west of Johannesburg, where 17 people were killed, bringing the confirmed death toll from the two attacks to 27.
