PowerBall is drawn every Tuesday and Friday. Players choose five main numbers from 1 to 50 plus a PowerBall from 1 to 16, drawn from a separate machine - which is why the PowerBall can repeat one of the main numbers.

PowerBall XTRA is the add-on game that replaced PowerBall Plus in June 2026. It uses the same numbers you played in the main draw and is drawn straight afterwards. It also has a Jackpot Cascade rule: if nobody matches everything in the last draw of a calendar month, the jackpot is shared among Division 2 winners instead of rolling over.
Where to play
Tickets are sold at licensed National Lottery retailers across South Africa, on the official National Lottery website and app, and through the banking apps that offer lottery entries. Sales close at around 20:40 on the day of a draw, though cut-off times differ slightly between outlets and apps. You must be 18 or older to play.
