Capitec-Bank
What would you do if you woke up to a notification that your Bank Account has been cleaned out – all your money has been withdrawn in the early hours of the morning?
This is what dozens of Capitec Bank users saw when they woke up this morning.
Social media has been flooded by complaints from frustrated Capitec Bank users with screenshots of their money being withdrawn or swiped in the early hours of this morning.
Some of these transactions are happening at Shoprite/Checkers stores, which gets users confused as to which Shoprite stores operate at 2 AM.

Capitec Bank posted a statement on their Twitter page: “We are aware of a technical issue between us & another bank that has caused Capitec clients who transacted on this bank’s card machines to be double deducted. Our IT team is working to rectify the issue. The transactions will be reversed within the next 24 hours.” The Tweet further says: “We will SMS the affected clients directly. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.“
