The Betway Premiership continues tonight as Chippa United welcome Richards Bay in a closely contested fixture that could provide an early boost to either side’s campaign.
The match is scheduled for 19:30 at Dobsonville Stadium, with both teams looking to secure their first league victory of the new season.
Chippa looking to turn a draw into three points
Chippa United head into the encounter after opening their campaign with a goalless draw against Golden Arrows.
While the result earned the Chilli Boys a point, their lack of goals will be an area of concern. Chippa have struggled for consistency in front of goal over recent matches, and tonight presents an opportunity to put that right.
The return of goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is also a major positive. Nwabali was named Man of the Match in Chippa's opening fixture after producing an impressive performance between the posts.
At home, Chippa will know that anything less than three points will leave them wanting, particularly with a Richards Bay side arriving in search of a response.

Richards Bay desperate to bounce back
Richards Bay's league campaign has not started as they would have hoped.
The Natal Rich Boyz suffered a 2–1 defeat to Polokwane City in their opening match, leaving them without a point heading into tonight's fixture.
Another defeat would make for an uncomfortable start to the season, making tonight's encounter particularly important.
Richards Bay will also take confidence from their recent history against Chippa. The two sides have produced some unpredictable results, including a 4–1 Richards Bay victory in the 2025 MTN8 and a 3–0 Chippa victory in the league in February 2026.
A fixture that could go either way
This is one of those matches where league positions and reputations may count for very little.
Chippa will have home advantage and the confidence of having avoided defeat in their opening fixture, while Richards Bay will be determined to respond immediately after their loss to Polokwane City.
Recent meetings have also been tightly contested. Across the last five recorded encounters, both teams have won twice, with one match ending in a draw. The goals have been evenly split at 5–5.
That statistic perhaps tells the story perfectly: there is very little separating these two sides.
The battle in midfield could decide the game
With both teams likely to approach the match cautiously, the midfield battle could prove decisive.
Chippa will want to control possession and use their home advantage to push Richards Bay back, while the visitors could look to remain compact and exploit spaces on the counter.
The first goal could therefore be extremely important.
