South African winger Puso Dithejane has been rewarded for his impressive recent form after being named Chicago Fire FC’s Player of the Month for July and August.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough spell with the Major League Soccer side since returning from the 2026 FIFA World Cup break, producing a string of influential performances for the Fire.
Dithejane opened his MLS scoring account in July when he found the net against Inter Miami. He has since added three more goals, while also registering two assists during his impressive run of form.
The former TS Galaxy star has also made an impact beyond the first team, scoring and providing an assist in Chicago Fire II’s 7-2 victory.
His performances have seen him emerge as one of Chicago’s exciting attacking options, with his pace, direct running and ability to create chances making him a growing threat.
Chicago Fire officially announced the accolade on Wednesday, September 2, with the club celebrating the South African’s rise by declaring: “They all know the name now.”
The award marks another significant milestone in Dithejane’s rapid rise since leaving South Africa.
Before moving to the United States, Dithejane had already established himself as one of the PSL’s standout young players, earning Player of the Month recognition during his time at TS Galaxy.
Now, the former Kaizer Chiefs academy product is making his mark on the MLS stage — and his latest award suggests there could be much more to come from the young South African.
